BSc MSc AIEMA Principal Consultant  Nick is an Environmental Consultant with ten years project management experience and extensive involvement in the field of sustainable development, specialising in Sustainability Appraisal, Strategic Environmental Assessment, Environmental Impact Assessment, and Habitats Regulations Assessment. As Principal Consultant at UE Associates he is responsible for product development, identification of business opportunities, bid writing and interviewing, as well as project and budget management, project delivery, staff training and management, technical delivery and environmental assessment. Prior to establishing UE Associates, Nick worked as an environmental consultant to an international engineering company providing specialist technical input to a wide variety of commissions for both public and private sector clients, land use and sectoral projects. He works primarily at the strategic end of environmental assessment, has thorough training in EIA, and regularly conducts assessments with direct relevance to air quality, ecology, energy and climate change, soils and archaeology, landscape, and water quality and resources. Recent projects Nick has co-ordinated include the development of a web-based tool for the preparation of Habitats Regulations Assessments for Local Development Documents across a sub-region encompassing eleven local authorities and 36 European sites. He has an ongoing involvement in a number of combined SA/SEAs including those for the Lee Valley Regional Park Development Framework, the London Borough of Tower Hamlets LDF and the Black Country Authorities Joint Core Strategy, as well as a variety of different HRAs. He is working with the Scottish Government on an SEA for a review of the National Scenic Areas (protected landscapes) programme, and contributes to a selection of EIA projects. Nick has prepared environmental assessments for sectors including land use planning, regeneration projects, flood risk management, environmental protection, transport planning, economic development and environmental enhancement. |
